I am a researcher at the Institute of Computational Science, Faculty of InformaticsUniversità della Svizzera Italiana (USI). Previously I have been a postdoc at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and at the Institute of Technologies for Communications at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at USI. My research activity has always dealt with knowledge at different levels: how it can be formalized and collectively produced (Description Logics, Social Semantic Web), how it can be extracted from unstructured or semi-structured data (Social Web mining, ontology extraction from text), and how it can be exploited to make sense of vast amounts of information (machine learning, pattern recognition). My current work focuses on the concept of similarity between objects, its extension to different modalities/views and its application to problems in shape analysis, image processing, and machine learning.

If any publication link is missing, not working, or pointing you to a page which asks you money for the paper, either check on Mendeley (which automatically syncs with my personal publications folder) or mail me: most of the articles you cannot directly download from here are freely available upon request.
